With the AI Hub, an assistant such as Claude Desktop, ChatGPT or Cursor can read a location's publishing settings, draft posts, send them for approval, tidy the photo library and summarise what went out. Eighteen Publishing tools do the work. A person in the dashboard, or an approver on an email link, releases each post, so your clients stay in control of every profile.
Create the connection under Resources -> Developer -> AI Hub and tick Include Publishing.
The rule: assistants prepare, a person approves
Assistants draft, edit, reschedule and send posts for approval. Everything an assistant creates or edits waits for a person to approve that exact version, in the dashboard or from an email link with no login.
This follows Google's policy for software that manages Business Profiles: "End users of your Business Profile APIs need to manually sign in to use it." The assistant works on your records; a signed-in person or a named approver sends the post to Google.
Example prompts
Ask in plain words. Each prompt below uses the tools named after it.
| Ask your assistant | What happens |
|---|---|
| "Draft four November posts for each of my dental clients and send them for approval." | generate_post or draft_post writes each draft, then request_post_approval sends them to the approvers, up to 20 posts per call |
| "Which posts are still waiting for approval, and for which clients?" | list_posts with the waiting-for-approval filter |
| "Why did the Bristol post fail? Fix it and send it again." | get_post shows the failure and the fix. update_post edits it, and the edit goes back for approval |
| "Turn on posting for every location with a connected Google profile." | enable_publishing_channel, up to 50 locations per call. Nothing is posted |
| "Move next Tuesday's post to Thursday at 9am." | reschedule_post, in the location's local time. An approved post stays approved |
| "Add the photos at these links to the Bath library and describe each one." | add_media_from_url, then update_media_asset |
| "Pause Autopilot at the clinic while it is closed for Christmas." | set_autopilot_status |
| "Summarise last month's posting across all my clients." | get_publishing_activity |
Connect an assistant
- Go to
Resources -> Developer -> AI Huband give the connection a name, for exampleClaude Desktop - Tick
Include Publishing. The assistant can then read posts, photos and settings. WithAllow write access (advanced)also ticked, it can prepare drafts and send them for approval - A connection gets only the Publishing permissions its user holds, and everything it prepares goes to a person for approval. A customer with
Approve posts onlyaccess gets a read-only connection - As the account owner you can use
Limit to these customers. The assistant cannot see customers you leave out, and such a connection works only with AI assistants, not with the REST API - Click
Create connectionand paste the configuration into the assistant - Under
Assistant instructions,Downloadgives short files you can edit and hand to your assistant, one per task
The eighteen tools
| Tool | What it does | Kind |
|---|---|---|
list_publishing_locations | The locations you can publish for: profile ready, publishing on and healthy, Autopilot state, approval rule, approver set, usage this month | Read |
get_publishing_settings | One section of a location's settings (facts, instructions, autopilot, schedule, photos), with where each value comes from and what is locked | Read |
get_post_requirements | What a post of a kind needs at a location: limits, buttons, photo rules, link handling | Read |
list_posts | Posts filtered by location, status, kind, origin, dates, waiting for approval or needing attention | Read |
get_post | One post in full: content, photo, each delivery with status and fix, checks, available actions, a dashboard link | Read |
list_media_assets | Library photos filtered by location, status, folder, Autopilot pool, unused, missing a description or photo location, each with its photo location | Read |
get_publishing_activity | What was published, waiting, scheduled or failed over a period, with Autopilot runs and usage | Read |
enable_publishing_channel | Turns publishing on for up to 50 locations with a ready profile. Posts nothing | Prepare |
update_publishing_settings | Facts (arrive unconfirmed), instructions, schedule, time zone, languages, photo location (on or off, and the town to use). Never approvers, notice addresses or the approval rule | Prepare |
set_autopilot_status | Pauses Autopilot, or starts it where a person approves every post, the time zone is confirmed and an AI provider is connected | Prepare |
draft_post | Saves a draft from the assistant's own text | Prepare |
generate_post | Asks your AI writer for a draft, with an optional topic. Counts toward the AI drafts limit | Prepare |
update_post | Edits a draft, a waiting post, a scheduled post or one that failed. Any edit goes back for approval | Prepare |
request_post_approval | Sends up to 20 posts to their approvers. The only way an assistant's post moves forward | Prepare |
reschedule_post | Changes when a post goes out, never to within the next hour | Prepare |
cancel_post | Cancels a post before it publishes | Prepare |
add_media_from_url | Adds a photo to the library from a public HTTPS link, with a description, and says whether it will be geotagged | Prepare |
update_media_asset | Changes a photo's title, description, alt text, folder, Autopilot pools or photo location | Prepare |
Every prepare tool accepts dry_run, which checks everything and writes nothing. draft_post, generate_post and add_media_from_url also accept an idempotency_key, so a retried call never creates a second post or photo.

Ready-made tasks
The Assistant instructions files on the AI Hub page each take an assistant through one task with these tools. They name your agency, and you can edit them before handing them over.
| File | What the assistant does |
|---|---|
Plan next month for one location | Reads the settings, the post requirements, the existing posts and the photos, drafts four posts (a dry run first), waits until each is written, then sends them for approval |
Weekly check across customers | Lists the locations, finds posts that need attention, opens them, fixes what it can and sends them for approval |
Turn on publishing for many locations | Turns publishing on for up to 50 ready locations, applies settings to each, and starts Autopilot where a person approves every post, the time zone is confirmed and an AI provider is connected |
Tidy the photo library | Finds photos without a description and adds one |
Monthly summary | Summarises what was published, waiting or failed, beside the Google Business Profile performance numbers |
Who did what
- A post an assistant drafted shows the connection's name in its history, for example
Claude Desktop (assistant) - On
Business -> Publishingit readsDrafted byfollowed by the connection's name, and customers seeDrafted by an AI assistant - The approval email tells the approver that an assistant drafted the post
- Every tool call is recorded in the AI Hub audit log
Limits
- 120 calls a minute per connection, and 600 a minute across your account
generate_postalso has its own limit of 10 drafts a minute per connection, and every draft counts toward the location'sAI drafts per location per month- Any time an assistant sets must be at least one hour ahead, so a person can still step in
- A connection never gets more Publishing access than its user holds
- An assistant starts Autopilot at a location once it has an approver address
- The tools are listed only while Publishing is available on your account. What a customer's plan allows is checked on every call
