Pause Autopilot or Hold All Posts

Two brakes for a business: pause Autopilot to stop new drafts, or hold every post, approved ones included, for a closure, a rebrand or a busy week.

Feature overview: Google Business Profile Posts

Sometimes a business needs its Google profile to go quiet: a closure, a rebrand, a refit or a busy week. Two switches cover it. Pausing Autopilot stops new drafts. Hold All Posts stops every post at the location, approved ones included, until you lift it.

Pause Autopilot

  • From the Autopilot tab: Pause
  • From any approval email: Pause Autopilot. Your client can do it without logging in
  • From an AI assistant: set_autopilot_status
  • Posts already approved still go out. The pause page lists them
  • A pause from an email link shows under Needs Attention on Business -> Publishing, with who paused it
  • Resume restarts it, and Autopilot plans its next draft

Hold All Posts

  • On Posts -> Settings, Publishing tab, the Hold All Posts card: click Hold All Posts and confirm
  • Nothing is posted until the hold is lifted, approved posts included
  • Posts keep their times, and Autopilot writes no new drafts
  • Approvers can still approve. The approval email tells them the posts are on hold
  • Publish Now asks you to lift the hold first
Worth knowing

This is a customer-side screen. Because you are in your agency account, you can reach it two ways: go to Business -> Customers -> Manage Customers and click Open dashboard on the customer: you go into their dashboard with nothing locked, even features their plan hides, and a bar at the top shows whose dashboard you are in (handy for done-for-you setups or granting access beyond a plan); or choose View as customer on the same page to see their dashboard exactly as they see it, with their plan's limits. If your sidebar shows the Agency / Customer switcher, the Customer tab plus the location switcher is a shortcut to the same place.

Lifting the hold

  • Click Lift Hold and confirm. The confirm names who put the hold on and when
  • Posts within a day of their time go out at the next time within the posting hours
  • Posts more than a day past their time wait under Needs Attention with This post missed its time while it was held. Click Reschedule to give each a new time
  • Autopilot plans its next draft

Where a hold shows

  • A banner on Posts and Autopilot: Posts for followed by the business name and are on hold
  • An On hold badge on each held post
  • Posts on hold on the agency Needs Attention tab, with who held them and when
  • Your daily summary, with the date and who held them
