Automate Review Requests from Stripe Payments
When a charge succeeds in Stripe, EmbedMyReviews adds the customer to a review campaign and sends the request by SMS or email at the time you choose. Refunded charges and subscription renewals are skipped automatically.
No marketplace app to install. The connection runs on a restricted API key you create with four permissions, and the webhook endpoint is created on your account during setup.
"Hi Alex! Thanks for subscribing to Premium. We'd love to hear about your experience..."
How It Works
Three steps in the setup wizard. The webhook endpoint is created on your Stripe account for you.
Connect your Stripe account
Create a restricted key under Developers, API keys with Charges Read, Customers Read, Invoices Read, and Webhook Endpoints Write. Paste it, and it is validated on the spot and stored encrypted.
Choose a campaign and when to send
Pick the review campaign, then send immediately, up to 24 hours after the payment, or the next morning at a set time.
Review and activate
The webhook endpoint is created on your account through the key, and successful charges start flowing into the campaign.
What triggers a request, and what never does
The integration listens to charge events and acts only on payments that actually completed. Customers whose money came back are never asked for a review.

Integration Features
Built around how Stripe actually reports money: charges, captures, refunds, and the invoices behind subscriptions.
Restricted key, your control
Connects with a restricted API key you create in Stripe with exactly four permissions: Charges Read, Customers Read, Invoices Read, and Webhook Endpoints Write. Revoke it from Stripe at any time.
Timing you control
Immediately, 15 minutes to 24 hours after the payment, or the next morning at a chosen time in your timezone.
Refund-aware
A refund cancels the pending request. Charges that are already refunded when first seen are never queued.
Renewals never re-ask
Invoices billed for a subscription cycle are recognised and skipped. The first payment of a new subscription and every one-off payment still send.
Customer details become contacts
Name, email, and phone are read from the charge and the linked Stripe customer record, so requests can go out by SMS, email, or both.
Payment log and counters
Every charge received, skipped, cancelled, or sent is listed with its reason, including "Subscription renewal payment", alongside totals for payments received and requests sent.
Point the campaign at the platforms that matter
SaaS companies need reviews on G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, and Google. Because the trigger is the first successful payment, the request lands once the customer has committed, and renewals never ask again.
What you need before connecting
EmbedMyReviews connects to Stripe through a restricted API key, with no marketplace app and no Stripe Connect onboarding. The setup wizard checks the key's permissions before anything is saved.
- A restricted API key created under Developers, API keys in the Stripe Dashboard. Your full-access secret key is never needed.
- Four permissions on that key: Charges Read, Customers Read, Invoices Read, and Webhook Endpoints Write. Invoices Read is what lets renewals be recognised and skipped.
- A review campaign with SMS or email configured through your own provider.
Test mode keys are recognised
Paste a test-mode key and the integration shows a Test mode badge and reacts only to test payments, so you can watch the flow end to end. Swap in the live key when you are ready.
No delivery test, by design
Stripe has no test-ping step for new endpoints, so activation is immediate. The first charge after activation appears in the payment log with its outcome and reason.
Your providers. Wholesale rates.
Review requests triggered by Stripe payments are sent through your own Twilio (SMS) or SMTP (email) accounts. You pay wholesale rates directly, with no EmbedMyReviews markup on messaging.
Common questions
How does EmbedMyReviews connect to Stripe?
Through a restricted API key that you create in the Stripe Dashboard under Developers, API keys, with four permissions: Charges Read, Customers Read, Invoices Read, and Webhook Endpoints Write. There is no marketplace app and no Stripe Connect onboarding. The key is validated during setup and stored encrypted, the webhook endpoint is created on your account for you, and you can revoke the key from Stripe at any time.
Which payments trigger a review request?
Charges that succeed, and charges that are captured after an authorization-only hold. One-off payments and the first payment of a new subscription both send. Failed payments and zero-amount charges are ignored, and each charge is only ever asked once.
Will my subscribers be asked every month?
No. Every charge is checked against its invoice, and invoices billed for a subscription cycle, a subscription update, or a usage threshold are skipped with the reason "Subscription renewal payment" in the log. The first payment of a new subscription sends as normal. One edge case to know about: when a subscription starts with a free trial, the first real charge is billed as a cycle invoice, so it is skipped too and appears as a skipped row.
What happens when a payment is refunded?
Any refund recorded before the send cancels the pending request, and a charge that is already refunded when it is first seen is never queued. The customer is not asked to review a purchase they got their money back on.
When is the request sent?
You choose during setup: immediately, a fixed delay from 15 minutes up to 24 hours after the payment, or the next morning at a set time in your timezone. The delay is measured from when the charge succeeded in Stripe, not from when the webhook arrived.
Can I test it before going live?
Yes. Paste a test-mode restricted key and the integration shows a Test mode badge and reacts only to test payments, so you can run a test charge and watch it move through the log. When you are ready, replace it with the live key.
